A Floating Vegetable Market
Every morning between 6 and 7 am buyers and sellers come via Shikara to Dal Lake’s floating vegetable market.

Even though I don’t understand or speak Kashmiri I could tell there was a lot of negotiating, humor and gossip going on between these men.
Here a farmer uses a hand scale for measurement.

The market itself is simple. Both buyer and seller float around on their shikaras and socialize a bit. When a buyer sees something needed he’ll go for the sale. Not too much noise is made during the process but you can tell all these men are having a good time doing business.
Here a buyer pays for his produce.
