On June 20th two young men set themselves on fire in Tibet. Why? Freedom.

This makes the count of martyrs now 42.

A candlelight vigil was held in McLeod Ganj in their memory. Attending this event made me realize what I have, what I’ve taken for granted and what others around the world are willing to kill themselves for. Each tear I shed was filled with guilt, heart break and fear.

To be honest I knew very little about TIbet, its history or its people. I’m ashamed to say how naive I have been to what has gone on for years! 

Visiting McLeord Ganj has taught me a lot about this dying culture and what little powerful governments are willing to do to help.
